WakeMed Promotes Healthy Eating at One-of-a-Kind Culinary Event - Dish it Up, Raleigh!
RALEIGH, N.C. - WakeMed Health & Hospitals is premiering Dish it Up, Raleigh!, a unique culinary event benefiting the WakeMed Children�s Center on Sunday, September 9 from 3-8 pm on the Triangle Town Center Commons.
Dish it Up, Raleigh! was born from WakeMed�s continuing commitment to educating and promoting healthy lifestyles in our community. Attendees to Dish it Up, Raleigh! will enjoy great food from the Moore Square Farmer�s Market and a host of locally owned restaurants that are committed to providing healthy meal options. Attendees will also learn essential skills about portion control, nutrition and exercise to help them make healthy choices.
Our goal in presenting this event is to let people know that healthy food can also taste great. At the same time, we hope to share the importance of moderation and portion control,� commented Debbie Laughery, vice president of Public Relations, WakeMed Health & Hospitals. This exciting event will include food tastings, cooking demonstrations for adults and children, live music by Soul Kitchen and children�s activities throughout the day.�
A special Dish it Up, Raleigh! cookbook will be available for purchase on the day of the event. The cookbook will feature all participating restaurants, their chefs and their signature dish from the event. Cookbooks are $10 each. All cookbook proceeds will benefit the WakeMed Children�s Center.
