RALEIGH, N.C. - WakeMed is pleased to announce Derrick Miles is joining the system as vice president of operations and Mary Ann Wilcox has been promoted to senior vice president and chief nursing officer.
Derrick Miles, FACHE, has been appointed to the position of vice president of operations for the Raleigh Campus. Miles brings more than ten years of hospital operations experience, most recently serving as administrator of Advocate Christ Hope Children�s Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. Prior to this position, he served in various roles including vice president of support operations for Advocate Trinity Hospital in Chicago, IL and assistant administrator of Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo, Texas.
In the role of VP of operations - Raleigh Campus, Miles will oversee Biomedical Engineering, Imaging Services, Environmental Services, Food & Nutrition Services and Interpretive Services.

Miles holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology degree from Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, FL and a Master of Science in Health Administration degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Miles will join the WakeMed team on October 15, 2007.
WakeMed is also pleased to announce the promotion of Mary Ann Wilcox MS, RNC, CNAA, BC to senior vice president and chief nursing officer. In this role, Wilcox assumes responsibility for nursing throughout the entire WakeMed system in addition to her current operational responsibilities on the Raleigh Campus. This new position will help ensure consistency across the system in nursing policy, organizational structure, and standards of care. Working closely with current nursing leaders, Wilcox will serve as an advocate for nursing staff and help us meet the standards of excellence required for participation in programs such as Malcolm Baldrige and Magnet. In addition, Wilcox will serve as a local, regional and national representative for WakeMed nursing through participation in key nursing advocacy groups throughout the country.

Wilcox joined WakeMed in March as vice president of operations and chief nursing officer (CNO) for the Raleigh Campus. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Xavier College School of Nursing in Chicago, IL and a Master of Science degree from The Ohio State University College of Nursing.
