The Volunteers at WakeMed Cary Hospital

On October 17th, the Cary Hospital Volunteers enjoyed our Fall Recognition Luncheon and Business Meeting at Prestonwood. Board members for 2007 were installed. Its always good to see all the volunteers that come out for this event. Thanks to Beth Turner, our outgoing President, for all the hard work shes done while serving on the Board.

The 2006 Golf Outing at Bentwinds was a great success thanks to Golf Chairman Al Port and all the volunteers who came out to help sell raffle tickets, mulligans and do all the other little things it takes to make this our best fund raiser of the year. We will soon start planning the 2007 Golf Outing and if you can help out on a committee, please contact the Volunteer Office. Remember you dont have to play golf to help out!

On December 7, 2006 there will be a combination Jewelry Sale/Peanut Roaster Sale from 7am - 4pm. This will be a good opportunity to come out and get those special holiday gifts and help the hospital at the same time. Hope to see you there.

Construction will soon begin on the Meditation Room at Cary Hospital. The Volunteer Board pledged $25,000 over 5 years to the WakeMed Foundation for this project. The room will include skylights, stained glass windows, a water feature, music and benches. In addition, there will be a garden with another water feature and landscaping. Cary Hospital will have the quiet room that has been requested by employees, volunteers and patients for many years. We look forward to seeing the space completed in the next few months.

Our first sale of 2007 will be a Uniform Sale on March 29th, so spread the word. This is a good time for our employees to stock up on Spring Clothes.

In order to evoke more interest in serving on the Volunteer Board, we invite all volunteers to sit in on some of our meetings to get a better understanding of what the Board does. Hopefully, this will encourage more of you to serve on the Board in some capacity. If you are interested in attending a meeting, please contact the Volunteer Office for more information. Hoping we get a lot of interested people.

Thanks to you all for the time you give as volunteers at Cary Hospital, and Happy Holidays!

Sincerely,
Regina Brest
