FenestrationDefinition: A fenestration is an opening or window. For example, one surgical treatment for hearing problems is to make an artificial opening (fenestration) in the labyrinth of the ear. Fenestration was once used to treat otosclerosis, an abnormal bone growth in the middle ear that causes hearing loss, but it is rarely used now.
