Planning for the Eighth Fall Golf Outing on Monday, October 9, at Bentwinds is in full swing. How can you help? You can purchase raffle tickets, play golf, or assist on the day of the event. Brochures are available in the Volunteer Services office if you or someone you know can play. The format is captains choice with a shotgun start. Well have mulligans and raffle tickets for sale at the event. It is always a fun friend and fundraiser so we hope that you will join us.
Proceeds from the Golf Outing and other fundraising activities are returned to the hospital to support various projects and programs. The volunteers continue to support initial medications for our needy children and adult patients, patient toiletries, community sewing, and infant hats. The Board recently approved a donation of $12,750 to replace the ALGO3 Hearing Screening equipment for the Womens Pavilion & Birthplace. Hearing Screening is one of our volunteer placements. Our volunteers as well our new babies and their families will benefit from this new equipment.
A donation of $2,500 has been made to the Society of 1961, WakeMed Foundations annual fund. This donation will be utilized to expand mobile critical care. A pledge of $25,000 over a five-year period to the WakeMed Foundation was approved at the August Board Meeting. These funds were designated support the development of a Meditation Room in the Cary Hospital.
Another huggables milestone: more than 20,160 huggables have been delivered to the hospital for distribution. This represents a lot of love and talent! Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this project.
The Fall Recognition Luncheon and Business Meeting will be at Prestonwood on Tuesday, October 17 from 12 noon until 2 pm. We will celebrate your commitment to WakeMed, recognize you for your service, and install FY07 officers. Save the date.
Next vendor sale Jewelry, Thursday, December 7 from 7 am until 4 pm. Omega, a North Carolina vendor, will be here for the sale. Please watch for the signup sheet on the clipboard if you have a few hours to share for showing jewelry, bagging items, or completing employee payroll deduction forms. If you have jewelry items on our Christmas list, this is a perfect time to do your shopping as well as contributing financially to our volunteer organization. The vendor accepts cash, check and charges. Were also trying to confirm a second vendor for this date that will bring goodies suitable for holiday gift giving. Watch for additional information!
Again, thank you for all that you do for others. I look forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming events.
