The Flower Shuttle is being sponsored by Raleigh Moravian Church as a community outreach service project. The program is led by Nancy Reese and supported by approximately 40 volunteers who pick up flowers following events. They rearrange the flowers into smaller vases for delivery to many different organizations in the community such as Hospice, nursing homes, soup kitchens, missions and hospitals.
Flowers that would normally be thrown away are used to brighten the lives of people living with sickness, terminal illness, and disabilities. WakeMed Raleigh Campus Volunteer Services is one of the fortunate ongoing recipients of these arrangements. Patients receiving a flower arrangement are uplifted by the gift of kindness.
The Flower Shuttle is in need of donations of bud vases. If you have any tucked away that you would like to share, please drop them by the WakeMed Raleigh Campus department of Volunteer Service.
