Nursing Student Scholar Program

The WakeMed Nursing Scholars Program was designed to provide tuition assistance and practical, hands-on work experience for nursing students. Participants may receive tuition reimbursement of up to $2,000 per academic year as well as the opportunity to become an essential member of WakeMed's health care team while enrolled in nursing school.

Eligibility
To participate in the WakeMed Scholars Program, you must meet the one of the following criteria:

• A junior or senior in a BSN program and eligible for the NAI or NAII registry
• A first or second year A.D.N nursing student and eligible for the Nurse Aide I registry

Selection criteria for the WakeMed Scholars program are based upon academic achievement, interview and reference evaluations.

How do I apply?
Applications are accepted at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters.  Interested applicants are encouraged to apply on-line for the Nurse Scholar position.  You will be required to submit a recent transcript, as well as a recommendation from your nursing program director.  For more information, please email wakemednurses@wakemed.org 

What is my commitment?
If you are selected to participate in the WakeMed Scholars Program, you are required to:

• Accept and maintain supplemental employment at WakeMed Health & Hospitals
• Maintain your status as a full-time student with an overall GPA of at least 2.5
• After graduation, agree to work full-time at WakeMed one year for each year the scholarship was received
