Healthworks
Healthworks is the area's only medically directed fitness center. We are located in the WakeMed Health Park, a one-of-a-kind facility. With nearly 40,000 square feet, the Health Park provides an environment rich with wellness possibilities. From the half-court gymnasium to the state-of-the-art fitness center; the climate-controlled indoor therapy pool to the open and airy indoor park, our facility offers the latest advances in physical fitness.
Fitness Programs and Services
Healthworks' General Membership Program provides members with access to our fitness facilities and group exercise classes, both land and aquatic. We offer a broad range of exercise and educational programs, as well as community-based activities for people with varying needs.
Reach your health and fitness goals by making exercise part of your daily routine. The results are worth it.
Cardiac Rehab: this medically directed program, certified by the state of North Carolina, is a five-step program for individuals who have had a recent cardiac event. By incorporating exercise therapy, nutrition education, stress management counseling, risk factor education and vocational rehabilitation counseling, we help people recover while modifying their cardiovascular risk factors.
Safeway to Fitness: this supervised adult fitness program is designed for individuals who want or need structure, supervision, safety and fun in an exercise environment. Each hour-long class is directed by a qualified health professional.

Youth Fitness: this program is especially for overweight and/or inactive children. Kids age 7 and older learn about the importance of exercise in a non-competitive and fun environment. The goal? To reduce future health problems often associated with an inactive lifestyle.
Yoga Fitness: Classes include postures for stretching, proper breathing, deep relaxation and self-awareness, all aimed at creating a healthier mind and body.
Specialized Fitness Programs: these programs are designed to meet the needs of those with specific medical conditions, like multiple sclerosis and arthritis, as well as those recovering from joint replacement or other surgeries. The primary focus is on improving strength, range of motion, flexibility, balance and functional fitness in a social, interactive setting.
Fitness Consultations: consultations are offered to those beginning a fitness program for the first time, or for those who are re-starting their fitness program. A fitness specialist will discuss your personal goals and the most appropriate exercise program for you.
Fitness Assessment: this is an evaluation of your current level of fitness and includes a functional assessment (joint flexibility and range of motion), posture and gait assessment, body composition, muscular strength, exercise prescription and follow-up.
Reconditioning and personal training: the benefits of these services are three-fold. They help people with specific fitness needs, compliment an existing exercise program, or "jump start" beginners into starting a personal fitness program.
Group exercise classes: these classes are designed to offer a wide variety of aerobic and resistance activities in both the water and on land. Kick boxing, circuit training, sports conditioning, body sculpting, palates/yoga-based stretching classes and water aerobics are just a few of our programs.

Nutrition Programs
Special classes, lectures and presentations are offered by the Healthworks staff on a monthly basis and cover a wide variety of nutrition topics based on up-to-date research and sound principles.
KFUN! (Kids’Fun Fitness & Nutrition): supports families in creating an active lifestyle and a healthy, but not depriving diet. This family-based program for children and teens teaches nurturing skills to help decrease emotional or stress overeating and sharpens limit-setting skills.
Individual Nutrition Consultations: one-on-one sessions with a licensed, registered dietitian designed to address dietary needs as they pertain to specific health concerns, medical conditions and lifestyles. The focus is on healthy eating and changes necessary to fit your health and lifestyle, without giving up the joy of food.
Group Nutrition Classes: offered in a series of two-hour classes.
