Expertise Beyond the Heart Center Walls

While our WakeMed Heart Center is home to one of the finest heart programs in the country, the care we provide isn't bound by the physical walls of our Raleigh Campus facility. 

Mobile Critical Care Services
Mobile Critical Care Services provides hospital-to-hospital transport of critically ill cardiac, medical/surgical and pediatric patients as well as inter-facility transport for care of patients requiring Basic Life Support Services. Fifteen trucks in the Mobile Care Services fleet transport on average 700 patients each month. Each Specialty Critical Care transport team includes two nurses with advanced training in critical care and an emergency medical technician. Patients receive the benefits of WakeMed’s specialized care before they arrive at the Heart Center.

Cary Hospital Cardiac Catheterization Lab
WakeMed’s cardiology expertise extends off of the WakeMed Raleigh Campus, too. WakeMed Cary Hospital features a Cardiac Catheterization Lab for diagnostic evaluation of cardiac patients as well as pacemaker implants and peripheral vascular studies, performing 2,463 procedures in 2004.  If specialized care is needed, the Cary Hospital Catheterization Lab is closely aligned with the WakeMed Heart Center.
