CSF protein test CSF total protein is a test to determine the amount of protein in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). This test may be helpful in diagnosing tumors, infective polyneuritis (inflammation of several groups of nerve cells), vasculitis, blood in the CSF, and trauma.
