Dermatomyositis, heliotrope eyelids This photograph demonstrates the sign "heliotrope eyelids" in which the eyelids develop a brown (violaceous - rather than red) color. Heliotrope eyelids and Gottron's papules on the knuckles are characteristic findings in dermatomyositis.
