Methanol intoxicationDefinition: Methanol intoxication is poisoning caused by ingestion of methanol (often called wood alcohol). Methanol poisoning produces a profound metabolic acidosis that can cause blindness and can destroy the kidneys and other organs. (See methanol overdose and acidosis.)
