Clinical Pastoral Education (C.P.E.)

WakeMed's Clinical Pastoral Education (C.P.E.) program offers ministers, seminarians and laity the opportunity to be placed directly in a supervised setting with patients and families experiencing a crisis situation.  The various skills learned through interaction with patients and families is valuable to each participant's individual ministry.  For information about the WakeMed Clinical Pastoral Education Program, click here.

Urban Ministry

The Urban Ministry Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) student is invited on a journey of discovery into his or her own life story.  This program provides the student with an opportunity for in-depth self-study and self-understanding, which translates into a rich ability to identify with "the least of these."  Through this process, the student will be able to offer care and pastoral counseling as a clinically trained pastor to those who have lost their way or who have been broken by life and relationship failures. The placements include, but are not limited to: The Open Door Medical Clinic, Helen Wright Women's Shelter, South Salisbury Street Men's Shelter, AIDS Service Alliance - Carolinas, and various addiction treatment facilities.  Other sites in the Triangle Area will be offered according to interest and need.  For information about participation in Urban Ministry Clinical Pastoral Education,  click here.
