Welcome to WakeMed North Healthplex, featuring the first 24-hour, full service, freestanding emergency department in North Carolina.  The 13,500-square-foot emergency department offers a whole new level of emergency care and caring to northern Wake County.  Conveniently located, meticulously designed, and equipped with the latest technology, there is simply nothing like it anywhere.

The ED includes fourteen private treatment rooms; private rooms for patient triage; space for related radiology equipment, including a CT scanner, general radiology and ultrasound; an ambulance receiving area; and patient reception and waiting rooms.  To enhance and support the delivery of emergency services, there are three monitored patient observation rooms to provide space for the care of patients who have a lengthy discharge process or who must be transferred for continuation of care at an inpatient or other type of health care setting.  Emergency Services are staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians with specialty physicians available as needed. This facility and service accommodates patients brought in by EMS in ambulances.

All of this, backed by Wake County's only Trauma Center and the comprehensive care and treatment capabilities of WakeMed Health & Hospitals.  Just another example of what can be accomplished when outstanding people are committed to outstanding patient care.

WakeMed North Healthplex: Bringing convenient, accessible health care to Wake Forest, Wakefield and North Raleigh

WakeMed North Healthplex is a state-of-the-art medical complex that offers convenient access to a variety of outpatient, diagnostic and treatment options, which include:

·        Radiology – Our radiology services offer convenient access to a wide range of diagnostic imaging, including general radiography, screening and diagnostic mammography, bone densitometry for osteoporosis, ultrasound and tomography.  Appointments are readily available, and routine X-rays can be done on a walk-in basis.  A physician’s order is required for all exams.

·        Laboratory services – Our laboratory offers specimen collection for a full range of diagnostic and pathologic testing, as well as frozen sections.  Many of the more frequently ordered tests are done on-site, while others are sent to our Raleigh campus for analysis.  WakeMed’s laboratories are among the most comprehensive and advanced in the nation.

·        Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy – WakeMed North Healthplex houses four operating rooms – all of which include the latest in surgical technology, a minor procedures room and two endoscopy suites.  Physicians performing day surgeries at North are on the Medical Staff at WakeMed.  They perform a wide variety of procedures for adults and children, including orthopaedics, gynecology, ENT, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, plastic, general surgery, dentistry and more.

·        Outpatient Rehabilitation – Our comprehensive services include virtually any care you may need – from physical, occupational and speech therapy for adults and children, to vocational rehabilitation, neuropsychology, clinical case management and more.  Our facilities offer private treatment rooms and a state-of-the-art gym with exercise, strengthening and therapy equipment.  Everything was designed to meet the needs of children as well as adults.

·        Physician Offices – You can rely on the doctors who practice at WakeMed North Healthplex to provide you with the best in health care services, which, of course, compliment the WakeMed services you know and trust.  The newly-opened Physicians Office Pavilion houses a variety of specialists, all in one convenient location to serve you. Directions

Map/Directions – WakeMed North Healthplex is located on the corner of Durant and Falls of Neuse Roads, just one mile north of the I-540 interchange.  Parking is readily available with a covered patient drop-off and pick-up area at both entrances.
