Float Pool Positions
Working in the WakeMed nursing float pool provides you with flexibility and great pay. By working in our float pool, nurses are able to develop their skills by floating between Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, and Critical Care areas, based on experience.

- Current North Carolina RN License
- Current CPR certification (ACLS is required for some areas)
- At least one year of hospital experience within the last two years
Scheduling:
- Must work at least 32 hours per month
- No weekends or holidays required
- Set your own hours and availability
- 4-hour, 8-hour, and 12-hour shifts available
Orientation requirements:
- System-Wide Orientation (Monday and Tuesday, 8:00am - 4:00pm)
- Nursing Orientation (Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30am - 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am -12:30pm)
- Clinical Orientation (36-40 hours with a Resource RN that must be completed within 30 days of start date)

- Nursing Orientation (Wednesday, 1:00pm - 4:30pm and Thursday, 8:00am - 4:00pm)
- Clinical Orientation (36 hours with a Clinician/Resource RN on each unit)
Benefits-Eligible Float Pool Positions (Raleigh campus)
WakeMed offers full time benefits-eligible positions in the float pool. These positions provide guaranteed set hours, premium pay, and benefits while floating between Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, and Critical Care areas. Qualifications include a current NC RN license and at least one year of hospital experience within the last two years.
