Ambassador - Patient Access
Monday � Friday, 2 � 4 hour shifts, mornings and afternoons available
Volunteers greet families and patients, provide escort/direction to all areas of Raleigh Campus. Must be able to stand, push wheelchair and walk distances.
Corporate & Community Health
Thursday 7:30am � 9:30am
To greet, register and assist customers who present for cholesterol/lipid screenings.
Discharge Lounge Ambassador
Pilot Program for 5th floor, Monday - Friday, 1 volunteer per shift (11a-3p; 3p-7p)
Volunteers placed in the area should have concierge focus, ability to walk, stand, and interact effectively with customer, outstanding grasp of customer service. Will assist customers finding way to front exit.
Flower Delivery
Substitutes, Monday � Friday, 12:00 � 2:30 pm
Volunteer receives and sort flowers, Email a Patient items, and gifts. Delivers flowers and gifts to patients. Must be able to lift light items, walk distances.
Friendly Face Cart
Mon-Fri, 2 � 3 hours shifts, 8 am � 6 pm
Distribute magazines, books, lap robes, shawls, huggables and other diversionary items to patient rooms and waiting areas.
Hospitality Pets
Flexible scheduling, 2-hour shifts; Monday � Friday; Sat/Sun
Volunteer and canine team visits with eligible and consenting patients.
Medical Records
Monday � Friday, 8am � 5pm; 2 � 4 hour shifts
Lend clerical support to the staff by filing and retrieving medical records, delivering medical records to departments and processing records for outside storage. Assists with other projects as requested; computer skills preferred but not required.
Milk Bank
Monday � Friday, 9am- 6pm, 2 � 4 hour shifts
Volunteer assists with milk processing duties, record keeping, data entry, telephones, and service area clean-up.

Patient Mail
Monday � Friday: substitutes, 8am-10:30am Volunteer sorts and delivers mail and Email a Patient items to patients. Ability to sort in alpha order, read and write, walk distances
Sewing Groups/Individuals
The Huggables Project is a combined effort of WakeMed, individuals, church, civic and community groups. Huggables are cloth dolls and animals stuffed with polyfill, and are made in various colors, prints and designs. They are distributed to patients, both children and adult, as a source of distraction during injuries or illnesses. If you would like to assist in this project by organizing a group, or sewing as an individual, please contact Marie Johnson (Raleigh Campus) � 919-350-8066.
Tours
1 � hours per month daytime and/or evening shifts
Tours of WakeMed Raleigh Campus for new and established volunteers. Ability to walk distances, interact effectively with individuals and groups, ability to way-find.
YMCA Resource Center Volunteer: Cary, AE Finley, Wakefield/Kerr Locations:
Monday � Friday, 9am �11am or 5pm � 7pm (approximately 2- 3 hours per shift)
Volunteer to provide information, assist customers navigate internet to access health information; register customers; assist with resource information/models; assist with promotion of upcoming events and services

WAKEMED CARY HOSPITAL
Gift Shop
Assist customers, stock inventory, display merchandise, cashiering. Strong comfort level working with computers. Positive customer service and interaction skills a must.
Wednesday, 1pm-5pm; Thursday, 1pm-5pm and Friday, 11am-3pm or 12pm-4pm.
Emergency Department Liaison
Attend to comfort needs of patients and families waiting to be seen in ED. Stock supplies, run errands, assist ED staff as assigned.
Tuesday, 4pm-until; Friday, 4pm-7pm, Saturday, 2pm-9pm open; Sunday, 7pm-9pm.
Day Surgery
Assist staff with non-clinical duties such as patient transportation and discharge, clean stretchers, see to comfort needs of patients, assist visitors and stock supplies.
Wednesday 12pm-4pm; Thursday 8am-12pm
Friendly Face Cart
Distribute magazines, books, lap robes, huggables and other diversionary items to patient rooms and waiting areas.
Tuesday and Thursday � approx 2 hours shift, day or early evening hours

Volunteer and canine volunteer team make short in-room visits to eligible and consenting patients.

Materials Processing and Distribution
Inventory and stock items, break-down boxes, stock linen on shelves, deliver stock to departments throughout the hospital.
Monday � Friday, 5pm-7pm; Monday and Wednesday, daytime hours available
Radiology/Mammography
Stock rooms, assist patients with check in and prep procedure, provides escort as necessary, clerical support as needed, run errands.
Wednesday, 1pm-4pm; Friday, 1pm-4pm
Radiology Escort
Assist area by transporting patients to and from scheduled procedures. Involves wheelchair and stretcher transport.
Saturday, 8am-1pm; Sunday, 8am-1pm
Patient Services
Assigned to work on individual nursing units. Assist staff with non-medical duties that may include stocking supplies, running errands, patient transport, delivery of meal trays, filling water pitchers, seeing to patient comfort needs. Flexible needs.
Tour Guides
Established volunteers only. Provide tours and information to new (or not so new) volunteers who desire a tour of the facility. Schedule � to be determined, but no more than twice per month. Some evenings.
